congrats! You want to
adopt a doodle!

Doodles tend to get adopted pretty quickly.  Because of that, we do not post dogs that are available for adoption on this site.  We usually have a short queue of potential adopters waiting for a doodle that meets their needs and lifestyle, (no fee, just an email expressing your interest will do!).  If you are looking for a doodle immediately, we might not be for you.  If you'd like to adopt a doodle in the next few months, we absolutely will have dogs that pop up that may be a good fit for you!

As of 2026, all adoption applications are through Country Acres Rescue SC.  Adoption fees ($190 as of 2026) also go directly to Country Acres Rescue SC and cover shots and spay/neuter.

If you are looking to adopt immediately, we recommend taking a look at the following rescues to see if they have dogs that are a fit:

  • Peanuts Place Small Breed Rescue

  • Carolina Poodle Rescue

  • Fur Babies Animal Rescue SC

Whether looking at these rescues or other rescues, make sure you ask:

  • Has this dog been staying in a kennel or in a home environment while in foster?  (Hard to get a great sense for a dog if they're kept in a crate/kennel most the day).

  • Are you a for-profit organization?

  • Are you a 501c3 rescue currently up-to-date?

  • How did this dog end up with your rescue?

  • How many homes has this dog been in to date?

rescue dogs aren't perfect

Occasionally we get very specific requests like, "We'd love a 20 lb apricot color doodle who is 1 year old and potty-trained and crate-trained and doesn't bark or jump and speaks fluent French!".  There is no such thing as a perfect dog.  Rescue dogs need time and patience, and it will come down to what you can/can't tolerate.   For some people, a "velcro-dog" that follows you everywhere is a drage.  For others, a dream!  Some adopters want an active, energetic dog who is ready to spend a whole day at the Whitewater Center, while others are open to an older, lazy dog.  Some things that we CAN help look for when finding a fit for you:
- Kid-friendly (most of our fosters have kids, so this is an area we specialize in!)?
- Dog-friendly or not necessary?
- Cat / chicken / etc. friendly or not necessary?
- Potty trained already or willing to work on it?
- Crate trained already or willing to work on it?
- Quiet in crate?  (important if you live in an apartment)
- Would do best with a fenced yard or ok with a few walks a day?

Just like humans!
